R4i 3DS introduction

R4i 3DS is also called R4i 3DS gold card or R4i3DS. It is released by r4ids.cn on March 2nd, 2011. R4i 3DS is the advanced verison of R4i Gold card which is special for Nintendo 3DS console, it is the first 3DS card. R4i 3DS card totally contain all functions of R4i Gold card, AS the final solution for Nintendo, R4i 3DS support all Nintendo consoles, include DS, DS Lite, DSi, DSiXL, DSiLL, 3DS. Well, as 3DS centry begin, we belive the R4i 3DS will be very famous later.

R4i 3DS kernel

R4i 3DS can use 2 kinds of kernel: the R4i 3DS kernel and wood r4 kernel. The latest R4i 3DS kernel is R4i 3DS firmware 1.1.0-1J which was released on March 3rd. R4i 3DS card works perfectly on 3DS with the new firmeware 1.1.0-1J. The wood r4 kernel can also be used in R4i 3DS card. The latest version is wood r4 v1.57, which was released on March 15th. Users can download any of them for installation.

Attention: the R4i 3DS card is not compatible with the r4i gold kernel – R4i V1.50.

R4i 3DS card differ from R4i Gold card

R4i 3DS card is different from R4i Gold in encrypiton part. The chips included in this R4i 3DS card is MX23J4GC0-75H(48Pin) and 25L4001(8Pin). The hardware structure of R4i 3DS is almost the same as that of the R4i Gold card. R4ids.cn technical team has removed the standing out part of R4i 3DS and inserted the R4i 3DS core into a NDSi. Well, the DSi console shows no cart inserted! This means R4i 3DS card’s encrypiton part is different from that of R4i Gold card.

R4i 3DS card installation

R4i 3DS card set up method is very similar with the way to set up R4i Gold V1.4.1 card. There are four steps. Firstly, download the latest R4i 3DS kernel from the internet, and upzip it to your computer. Secondly, copy all files to the root directory of the MicroSD card. Thirdly, put the MicroSD card into the R4i 3DS card, and insert the R4i 3DS Card to your 3DS console. Finally, turn on the Nintendo 3DS console, and enter the main menu. The R4i 3DS installation is finished, you can start to enjoy games of media now.

    Hi, I have bought a 3ds card (gold) for some months ago when I thought that it could play 3DS games, which it did not. I was disappointed and felt like returning the card, but I am rather waiting for the 3DS card to play 3DS games. My Question: When will the 3DS card be able to run 3DS games? Is that something someone is trying to fix? Thanks for any answer!

    Wood r4i v1.57 released on March 13th, it is the latest kernel for r4 3ds card.
    Compatibility:
    - 'pokemon hwaiteu 2 (korea)'.
    - 'pokemon beullaeg 2 (korea)'.
    - 'witches & vampires ghost pirates of asburry'.
    - 'bratz - fashion boutique'.
    - 'korg ds-10+ synthesizer limited edition (japan)'.

    R4i Specific:
    - rts still in beta stage.
    - old rts saves not compatible with new version.
    - improved video saving/loading.
    - math core saved.

    I have a r4 card and a 8GB SD card (sandisk). How many games can I put into the 8GB? Do I need to buy a bigger SD card or it is enough for me?

    R4i 3DS kernel update to wood r4i v1.55 on Dec 15th. It add RTS function to r4i gold 3ds card.
    RTS instructions:
    The speed and the sector size of tf card decide the speed of RTS.
    In order to make use of rts,you'd better format your tf card with sector size bigger than 8KB.
    First of all, you need make rts on by clicking start menu and choose setting.
    Just find "rts" and turn it on.
    In the game, you need hot-softreset key and you can get rts menu.
    (Note:Normally It might take a while (5~15 seconds) during the save and load game...)

  14. R4i 3DS card firstly break 3DS V4.5.0

    Nintendo upgraded 3DS system to V4.5.0-10 on December 5th. the r4i 3ds card (r4ids.cn) directly work on it, no need any upgrade. And currently, the r4i 3ds card is the only one flashcard which can support 3DS V4.5.0 system. All other flashcard are locked currently.
